It Pleased The Lord to Make You His Own
Leader: Marla Hutchinson and Sherry DeJong
Day/Time: Friday 9:15-11:15am
Materials Needed: None- a study guide will be provided
Study Description:
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1
When we have close friendships, we want not only to tell them of our affection, but to have actions that demonstrate our care. Know what pleases our friends becomes the basis of acts of love. Likewise, in our relationship to our Lord, we want to know what pleases Him. In this topical study, various scriptures are studied that address our desire to know Him better. The overarching theme is that God desires to be close to us, and to do this, our hearts and minds need to be aligned with His, wanting the same things and wanting the same goals. As we focus on pleasing Him, we are led to a harvest of righteousness and peace, and to worship our creator and Lord.
Suggested Preparation time: 20-30 minutes, 4 times per week

There is quite the cast of characters in the books of Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther! There are good guys and bad guys, back-stabbing colleagues, secular kings carrying out God's plan, fellow "believers" who are not carrying out God's plan, good businessmen, murderous scoundrels, priests, an orphan who becomes a queen, and God. In the plots of these three books, there are slow-motion disasters and scary obstacles. We will learn from the practical examples of God's ordinary people how, with God's help, to face our own fears and discouragements.
