The Elders' role is to serve as the overseers of the church body and as fellow shepherds with the pastoral staff by setting vision, giving direction, training leaders, teaching the Bible, and being model disciples.

Senior Pastor
Phil is a 1978 graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Both Phil and his wife, Lisa, graduated from Wheaton College with their undergraduate degrees. Phil was the first pastor of Christ Evangelical Free Church in eastern Pennsylvania, serving there for 17 years. They arrived in St. Joseph in 1995 to begin ministry here at The Chapel. He and Lisa have two children. Dan is a 2001 graduate of Taylor University in Upland, Indiana and a 2004 graduate of Notre Dame Law School in South Bend, Indiana. Rachel is a 2006 graduate of Taylor University.

Associate Lead Pastor
Corey joined the staff at The Chapel in October 2010. He graduated from Butler University with a bachelor’s degree and from Phoenix Seminary with a Master of Divinity in Biblical communication degree. Corey’s previous ministry experience includes serving as an intern with Athletes in Action at Butler University, and as a high school and college pastor in Arizona. Corey is married to Kasey and they have five children, Micah, Adelyn, Avery, Kellen, and Cade.

Executive Pastor
Bill joined The Chapel staff in October of 2022. Bill has been in full-time ministry since 1999 and has served churches in Texas as Singles and Recreation Ministers. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and received a Masters of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2011. Bill and his wife Jill have been married since 1995 and have one son.

Pastor of Discipleship
Luke joined the staff at The Chapel in June 2022. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree and from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Master of Divinity. Luke served as a pastoral intern at The Orchard EFC and married Lea in October 2020.

Pastor of Worship
Kent is a 1990 graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, where he earned a bachelor's degree in music education. Prior to entering full-time music ministry, Kent taught middle school and high school band and choir in three different public school systems in Illinois. He served as Associate Director of Worship and Fine Arts at Parma Heights Baptist Church in suburban Cleveland, Ohio for four years before being called to The Chapel in July 2002. Kent's wife, Susan, recently retired from teaching middle and high school English after 32 years. The Wades have two grown children, Andrew and Michaela (married to Michael) along with one grandchild, Myles.

Pastor of Student Ministries
Jacob Baker joined The Chapel in 2021 after having served for 10 years as a Youth Pastor in Iowa. He has a pastoral studies degree from Calvary Bible College and is pursuing a Masters of Divinity from Moody Theological Seminary. Jacob is married to his wife, Katie, and they have five kids.
